This on-demand learning module explores how emergency care for older adults can better support people living with dementia. Dr. Jones shares research from Ontario, discusses how emergency departments currently work, and explains new ideas like geriatric-specific emergency departments and hospital standards.

Janine Reimer also introduces the DREAM program—an Ontario-based initiative that supports both people living with dementia and their care partners in emergency departments. The program’s main goal is to help prevent unnecessary hospital stays.
